Expansion of MS headquarters campus, 5 years ~ 7 years until completion of the project.




NEW YORK, June 29 (newratings.com) - Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq: MSFT), a privately-held Microsoft campus based in Redmond, Washington, The site is now 500 acres. It is an extra large project that takes 5 ~ 7 years to complete after starting construction in autumn next year.


Eighteen new buildings and 6.7 million square feet (about 622,500 square meters) of office space will be added. When the project is completed, a total of 131 buildings will be built, and an additional space of 180 soccer fields will be created for more than 8,000 employees. There is also a walkway, sports facilities, and a seating area that can accommodate up to 12,000 people, which is open to local residents as well as staff. All parking spaces are moved to underground and the ground is made as a safe, open space for walking or cycling.

More than $ 150 million is invested in improving the transportation infrastructure and construction of pedestrians and bicycle-only high-rise bridges to cross the highway for employees using the light railway, which was opened in 2023, began.  

Over the past several years, the size of IT companies has grown dramatically. As a result, the number of employees has increased, and as more space is needed, a new nest is being built in succession. Apple has already completed its second campus and Google has announced plans to build a new campus. Amazon has begun receiving proposals for site selection to build a second headquarters by investing $ 5 billion (about 5.6 trillion won) in North America.

Apple to launch its next-generation iPhone power management chip


Apple plans to ship its next-generation power management chip to the iPhone next year, Nikkei quoted Bankhaus Lampe of Germany's Bank of Germany as saying on Wednesday. The power management chip is a core component that controls the power efficiency and charging function of the iPhone, and has a significant influence on the usage time, performance, and charging speed.

In the industry, BangkeHouse Lampe said that Apple has recruited a number of engineers to design its own power management chip and is preparing a research facility. In addition, next year, Apple expects to replace half of the chips used in the iPhone with in-house developed parts. At present, the power management chip used in the iPhone is supplied by Germany's Dialog Semiconductor, which accounts for more than 70% of its sales. After this news, the price of Dialog Semiconductor fell by nearly 40%.

The dialogue says it is not related to Apple, but it does not feel anxiety. Apple did not disclose any position as always. 

A similar situation was in April. Announced that it will stop trading with Imagination Technologies, a UK chip design firm that has been designing 'Power VR' graphics (GPU) chips for the iPhone, iPad and Apple watches, The stock price plummeted by 70%. Imaging, which has been relying on Apple for most of its revenue, is in the process of selling.  

Apple is slowing its own chip design to reduce reliance on external vendors, avoid complicated patent litigation, and optimize performance for its products. We have already been using our own A series chips for a long time and recently we have introduced the W1 Bluetooth chip in AirPod, and we are also developing a dedicated chip optimized for artificial intelligence. Qualcomm and Qualcomm have begun lawsuits as they prepare to replace the Qualcomm modem used by the iPhone with another company. Apple's own development of chips is paceing and there is tension among vendors that have had huge sales and growth to Apple's very large customers so far.
